The IMS Center Helps Two Members, Weichai and Baosteel, to be Elected to the World Economic Forum’s Global Lighthouse Network

With assistance from the Intelligent Maintenance Systems Center at the University of Cincinnati, member companies Weichai Power Co., Ltd and Baosteel Group have been elected to the World Economic Forum's Global Lighthouse Network. This Network recognizes companies with facilities that show they are leaders in applying in Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies.

Baosteel has been a member of the IMS Center for a number of years. Through this relationship, Baosteel has recognized the value of digitization, IoT, and Prognostics and Health Management using Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. Baosteel has gone on to adopt, implement, and scale these technologies, with the IMS Center's Director, Professor Jay Lee, providing key guidance.

Recognizing the need to develop in-house expertise, ovver the past year, a number of engineers from Weichai Power Co. joined the IMS Center as Visiting Scholars. During their time with the Center, these engineers were able to receive personalized training in the Center's technologies and methodologies, which are proven to drive impact from using Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence in the industrial space, and specifically in the manufacturing space. In addition to training, Weichai personnel worked directly with IMS Center personnel to apply the technologies they have learned to internal issues and needs, increasing the impact of this relationship.

We congratulate our members on being recognized for their leadership by the World Economic Forum.
